POTEATO // PLAIN VANILLA BAKERY

Decided to check out this place while celebrating some birthdays even though it's quite ulu at 78 Yong Siak Street (where well known places like Open Door Policy and Forty Hands are).
Made a reservation for 5 for 6.30pm on a Friday night though it was actually quite empty though it filled up as time passed.

Sweet Potato Fries -- $6.20
i liked how the fries came in a bag. Feel that it gives it a more erm rustic (? cant find the word to describe it) feel. So much better than it coming in a plate or like bowl -.-
FREAKING NICE. Once you pop the first piece into your mouth, you cant stop. LIKE SERIOUSLY AHHAHA THAT GOOD. I liked how the sweet potato's sweetness was there, but the fibre strands (whatever you call it) weren't, which made eating it very easy. I hate it when the fibre strands get stuck in teeth etcetcetc.

Bangers & Mash -- $15
Didnt try this because i dont like sausages other than the hotdogs from supermarkets hahahaha yeah la i very low class. But i tried the mash potato and thought that it was average. The red sausage was VERY SALTY apparently and the beige one had cheese in it.

Fish & Chips -- $15
Came with shoestring and sweet potato fries. Their shoestring fries were good i like hahahaha. Claudia said that the fish was good and remained tasty even when it got cold.

Pan Fried Salmon -- $15
Yifei ordered this haha. Not a popular dish online and taste quite normal too.

Louisiana Pork Ribs -- $18
Came with potato wedges below. VERY YUMMY LEH though really VERY FILLING. I liked how the pork was very tender and most of the meat came off the bone very easily, though the cutting got a bit tiring for me. I also liked how the BBQ sauce complemented the pork ribs very well and the taste was actually just nice for me and i didnt get tired of the taste. Though it might be because i like BBQ sauce. Very worth the 18 bucks.

At POTEATO, there's no service charge and no GST. To order, you just go to the end of the store and order and pay at the counter and they will serve you the food at your table.

The shop is actually quite small and cosy, very suitable as a place to chill and hang out with friends. Deco was not bad too heh.

Was thinking that this cheesecake was very photogenic.....

Eggless Chocolate Cake -- $7.80
NICE BUT VERY JELAT REALLY. SUPER CHOCOLATEY. It's another hit item on the menu though. I think that that it costs a bit too much for a chocolate cake but considering how generous they are with the chocolate and how the cake has this interesting texture, maybe the price can be considered reasonable? please do share it among at least 3 people though.

White chocolate strawberry x Salted caramel x Red velvet
I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE.
Even though i have to say that at first bite, the cream for the salted caramel was a tad too sweet. But got used to the taste after a while and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE SALTED CARAMEL AND THE RED VELVET. Loved how the cupcake was moist. Actually think that it's better than twelve cupcakes but then again the last time i ate twelve cupcakes was quite some time ago...
Anyway that's weiqian's hand in the last photo (which i actually like a lot hahaha super got feel leh) hahah she was lighting the candles for our bday celeb hahah
THANK YOU CLAUDIA AND WEIQIAN LOVE YALL DEEP DEEP DEEPER THAN THE SEA

P.S. On wednesday night, i went to 49Seats with Shi tian and Carissa and i had the chicken chop while they had the smoked duck carbonara (however you spell it). And even though both were separate dishes, they both had the same recurring herb taste? And especially for the chicken chop, it got a little 腻 after a while. AND THE SKIN WAS SUPER FATTY. The first ever time I ever not eat the skin AT ALL.
Also, we were the only ones in the restaurant (we reached at 6 plus) and actually felt quite weird though the waiters were smiley and stuff. Prob cos we were too near the counter. My chicken chop took ages though even though there weren't any other people -.- We then moved over to clarke quay and then ate ice cream at cold stone and gave carissa a surprise cake from starbucks for her birthday!

this week is so happening, i like!
USS on sunday, can't wait!!!
