THE LINE, SHANGRI-LA

Was at shangri-la on saturday for a buffet at The Line. I reckon it was somewhat a birthday celebration for my father's birthday though not explicitly mentioned lol since my mother treated us hahaha. I love being at the receiving end of treats. That said, thanks jian for the treat yesterday! (though he won't see this lolol)

Okay, so the above two pictures are entirely irrelevant lol but tis' the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la~ 

and the bear is damn cute please, it's like a shangri-la mascot.

Now onto the buffet itself. We had a reservation for 3 at 12pm. On friday, my father "offered" to let me drive so i was all jittery and stuff, wondering if i really dared to drive since i havent touched the wheels since i passed in august lol. But, all that worry was for nothing -.- Cos my father, the prejudiced-against-female-drivers male chauvinist, wasn't even actually considering letting me drive zzz

This coming weekend, imma grab hold of every chance to drive, though that means driving to OCC first. Then maybe i can drive to the wedding dinner~

TURKEY, which i didn't eat. I realised i didn't eat what the money's worth zz

sushi + favourite pickles + SALMON BELLY SASHIMI (love how you order from the person instead of having it all laid out for you.) 

STAR OF THE DAY. MY VIRGIN OYSTER~ Seriously damn nice please no bloody and disgusting insides that burst into your mouth at all, unlike those in oyster meesuas which are freaking disgusting. 

imma take back my words that i dont eat oysters. hahah I EAT ATAS OYSTERS~

Another star: DESSERTS. 

Starting from the bottom left clockwise: tiramisu, some chocolate thingy which resembled panna cotta, creme brulee, durian cake.

The durian cake's really popular. Glad i took it earlier on cos when my parents started on desserts, there were none left. 

Creme brulee was too sweet. and the other two desserts were so so only. Though that chocolate thingy is better than the tiramisu to me.

And then there's this other dessert counter for ice creams and crepes and free flow toppings. 

So here's my crepe wrapped with nutella, with green tea ice cream and coconut ice cream (gotta try the exotic flavours right~)

There's another self service soft serve ice cream machine, with dragonfruit icecream, vanilla ice cream and a mix of the two. I tried the mix and it was a tad sour. I took too much (cos the machine was too quick :O) and ended up giving half to my father. 

OKAY i realised the bulk of my meal was desserts..... #fatdieme

SATAY AND ROTI PRATA COUNTER. The satays are very popular. Had to go back at the end of my meal to get it. Went back a few times during the meal and it was always empty.

Then there's this drinks counter where you can order drinks. 

Drank two coffees in a day hahahaha it's a wonder i could still sleep on saturday night.

Ordered a latte first and a mocha later. I'm boring like that.

The coffee's lacking in coffee art though. The guy before me when i was ordering my latte, had some attempt on coffee art, but mine was just erm ugly with no attempts.

HAHAHAH The Line was good, but i guess i had my expectations up too high. And my appetite's clearly not suited for a buffet that's so expensive. I really didn't eat the money's worth. I ate a total of 1x 荷叶饭 + 1x cucumber sushi + 1x tamago sushi + 1x salmon belly sashimi + 1x oyster + 2x chicken satay + 2x coffee + 1/2 x dragonfruit&vanilla icecream + 1x coconut icecream + 1x greentea icecream + 1x nutella crepe + 1x durian cake + 1x 九层糕 + 1x tiramisu + 1x creme brulee + 1x chocolate thingy + 1x stick of chocolate coated marshmallows+ random baby potatoes and beef stew and some salmon pizza-like thingy.

Told ya the bulk of my meal was desserts. And this was brunch lor. didnt eat breakfast before i left the house. should have eaten another oysterrr DAMN YUMMY haha regret now too late already :(

Stupid me started the meal with the 荷叶饭 -.- there were a lot of dimsum and chinese food available but they didn't appeal to me so.... OH there's a counter with live cooking of noodles like laksa, satay beehoon etc. which i didn't have stomach for...

Overall ambience was nice. Liked the use of natural lighting (oh goodness, hahahaha anything to do with lighting, ventilation, environment, etcetcetc, i would think of AB0301 zzz) and their service was quick too. so you wont find that your table is cluttered with all the plates that you've used.

Food wise, i would say it's acceptable. But there was nothing that wow-ed me, unfortunately, other than the desserts and oysters, evidently. My parents enjoyed their meal though.

Service was good. Like impeccably good. Tables are cleared promptly. And from what my mother observed, when some woman used her hands to touch the oysters, the chef immediately discarded those that she touched. So it's like, you know the food's clean and safe to eat. Also, when the woman in charge of getting us seats and checking our reservations passed by the chocolate fountain and found one stick of marshmallows in the tray of marshmallows (we had to stick it on the stick itself), she threw it away immediately.

Would i go back again? I would say no, unless it's with a different group of people and i have the money lol. It's good for a one-time experience, but i don't see why i have to go back again. Anyway, they have such good business that they dont need me to sustain it HAHAHA. It's a 400-seater and i reckon its completely booked especially for weekends, so just think of how much money they are raking in. (Accounting student here, hahaha can't get such stuff out of the head. did i use to think of such stuff before uni started, i wonder. :O)
